22nd Annual "Swinging for a Cure"

At our annual Chicago Charity Tennis Clinic, you will enjoy an evening of tennis, food and good company. Players are divided into squads of eight according to skill level, and for two hours, are rotated through a series of drills and instruction led by 45 Chicago tennis professionals. Tennis is followed by a casual dinner, raffle and silent auction. Bid on specialized merchandise, state-of-the-art sports equipment, and more.

Dr. Katharine Yao - Guest Speaker at the '13 Chicago Charity Tennis Clinic
Katharine Yao, MD, is currently the Director of the Breast Surgical Program at NorthShore University HealthSystem and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Pritkzer School of Medicine, University of Chicago. Dr. Yao’s practice is devoted to diseases of the breast and research on breast cancer. She is conducting outcome studies on surgical and radiation therapies for breast cancer using the American College of Surgeon’s National Cancer Database as the Principal Investigator of the National Cancer Database Breast Beta Site. She is also collaborating on a MRI research study of high risk patients with researchers at the University of Chicago for which they received an Illinois Department of Health Ticket to the Cure Grant and an Institute for Translational Medicine Collaborative Pilot Award. Dr. Yao is conducting translational research on adipose and angiogenesis markers in breast cancer. These projects are examining how adipose tissue surrounding a tumor contributes to tumor growth. She is also conducting studies on surgical decision making for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in collaboration with the University of Chicago breast surgeons and Survey Lab.
